About the event
The World Retail Congress (WRC) has established itself as an important and unique meeting place for the global retail industry. Attracting retail leaders from across all sectors and countries so see the latest ideas and innovations that will help the industry move forward.
Following a competitive bidding process we won a two year contract to design and build content for the projection surface and stage for the WRC and Award Ceremony, which has an impressive 1000 delegates that attend each year.
During the design process it became apparent that a speaker preview area was required, which we incorporated into our AV production design, we were also asked to produce the AV for the Fashion Show which took place before the awards ceremony.
A 30m x 5m projection surface was designed to create a high impact to 1000 delegates when they entered the arena. Six Christie 20K ANSI Lumen projectors were used to create a seamless edge blend across the projection surface, this was extremely impressive.
Speaker preview area: We employed a dedicated technical project manager to oversee and design the arena technical specification, during the preproduction meetings we decided due to the nature and size of the event then a show-caller was required to manage all the technical aspects.
Audio equipment: We designed the perfect audio experience using software which allows the correct configuration of speakers and ensures and equal coverage across the venue.
Lighting & rigging equipment: We chose and designed the lighting to consist of beams as the arena space was extremely large and we wanted to create an enclosed, ambient feel to the prestigious congress, awards and fashion show. We planned to have two tons of rigging, sound and lighting suspended on the arena’s roof, we detailed and submitted weight loadings and CAD plans to the venue to be signed off by their structural engineer.
We worked for 6 months’ pre-production to ensure that all the event ran smoothly. The build took two days and we had 25 staff working shifts over those days.
Also onsite to ensure the success of the production was the Pre-production AV team, CAD designer, Technical Manager, Operations Manager and Content Manager. All the planning and hard work paid off as the event went to plan and it was a great success.
We were awarded the contract for the production of WRC as our concept for the event really brought their brand to life. The ideas and suggestions from the Showcase AVi team really exceeded the client’s expectations and it was all within budget.
After 6 months of pre-production and planning meetings with the client, it all went to plan and the client was extremely pleased with the outcome.
The Events Director commented that ‘it was one of the best productions of WRC they have seen in 10 years, we are looking forward to working with Showcase AVi next year’.
We had a great time working around the clock with the team and we are pleased that the client was happy with the end result.
